Mission Statement

The Austrian Institute for Human Rights understands itself to be a center of expertise in the area of human rights protection, in particular in the areas of the European Human Rights Convention and the United Nations. It sees its tasks as the following:

• spread awareness of human rights in general
  
  
• document the jurisprudence of European, International and Austrian courts and tribunals in the area of fundamental and human rights
  
  
• document relevant literature
  
  
• provide information for courts, public authorities, attorneys, students, private persons, etc.
  
  
• provide counsel to persons with cases of an international nature ? particularly before the European Court of Human Rights
  
  
• provide information about human rights conventions and courses both within Austria and abroad
